GAM’s agriculture and foresting Director Nebal Qattan said the municipality provides a proper environment for the public and charitable organisations to hold Ramadan banquets in the parks, noting that the parks’ facilities are supervised to ensure their preservation and sustainability.
Some 143 public parks in Amman have been receiving people after the fast-breaking iftar meal, Petra reported.
Public parks also host a variety of events every year, with a parade held at Al Hussein Parks in 2016 to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the official said.
Also in 2016, several activities and artistic performances were held at Al Hussein Public Parks as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Great Arab Revolt, he added.
At the start of 2016, GAM banned argileh (hookah) and barbeques at the King Abdullah Park, which receives 15,000 visitors on weekends, its media centre said at the time.
